At all stages during the preparation and training of competition horses, welfare must take precedence over all other demands. This includes good horse management, training methods, farriery and tack, and transportation. Horses and competitors must be fit, competent and in good health before they are allowed to compete. This encompasses medication use, surgical procedures that threaten welfare or safety, pregnancy in mares and the misuse of aids. Events must not prejudice horse welfare. This involves paying careful attention to the competition areas, ground surfaces, weather conditions, stabling, site safety and fitness of the horse for onward travel after the event. Every effort must be made to ensure that horses receive proper attention after they have competed and that they are treated humanely when their competition careers are over. Horses Stabling: Competitors have to accept stabling provided by the organization and is free of charge (5 boxes & 1 tack box). It is not allowed to set up own stable facilities for security reasons. Stables are available from Monday, September 1 09.00 AM to Monday, September 8, 2008 11.00 AM. Straw bedding will be provided free of charge. Feed will be provided free of charge (5 kg per horse per day, Wednesday Sunday). Additional feed is obtainable at prices of the day on the show grounds. Bedding with shavings (at additional charge by the OC) and special requests regarding stabling must be made by the closing date of the definite entry. The disposal of straw is free of charge. For the disposal of shavings a fee of 20 per box will be charged. Settlement of charges for shavings and the disposal of shavings will be done together with the general settlement of accounts at the end of the Championship. Feed will be delivered from Tuesday, September 2 until Monday, September 8, 2008. The following stable security regulations must be obeyed: Smoking is strictly prohibited in the entire stable area. Open fires (e.g. camping stoves) are strictly prohibited. Only the actually needed amount of feed supplies may be stored in the stables. Open space and entry ways between the stables may not be obstructed by trucks or lorries. Offences against these rules will incur a 100,00 fine (first offence). Repeated offence will lead to permanent exclusion for the stables / camping site. Welcome The time and date of arrival of drivers and horses and their means of transport must be given to the OC in order to facilitate them upon arrival (via Hippobase). No arrival before/after these times is possible as veterinarians will only be available for we lcome and passports check at these reception times. PROTESTS (Art. 167) Each protest must be made and signed by the Chef dequipe or individual driver and be forwarded within the time prescribed. All protests to be valid must be made in writing and accompanied by a deposit of CHF 150.- or equivalent. b. PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY The participation in the prize-giving ceremony and the lap of honour is obligatory for all placed competitors. c. DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES AND INDEMNITIES All prize money and all prizes in kind rewarded instead of prize-money as well as reimbursements (e. g. transport charges, travelling expenses) will be distributed acc. to FEI-RG Art. 130.2 following the last competition. The scheduled prizes are gross amounts. The total amount of prize money shown for each competition in the schedule must be distributed. If drivers have to be placed equally, the money value of the prizes in kind is divided accordingly. In case of special prizes (f.i. car, harness, cariage), the OC reserves the right to deduct the value from the prize money as published in this schedule. Settlement of accounts per competitor Reimbursement of prize money, transport and travelling expenses will be paid out by bank transfer only to competitors within 14 days after the World Four-in-Hand Championship. For this purpose the NFs are requested to state the bank information (name of recipient, bank name, bank code, account number, IBAN & BIC codes) of their competitors together with the definite entries (via Hippobase). The Organizing Committee is authorised to deduct any possible outstanding duties from the payment. Each competitor is obliged to forward the prize money to the respective horse owner(s). The final account will be handed out to the chefs dequipe (teams) & individual competitor and is is requested to check and sign the final account at the financial department before departure. d. INSURANCES All Chefs dequipe, competitors, owners, trainers, team veterinarians, other team members and their accompaniments are personally responsible for damages to third persons caused by themselves, their employees / grooms, their agents or their horses. They are therefore strongly advised to take out a third-party insurance providing full coverage for participation in equestrian events at home and abroad, and to keep the policy up to date. The Organizer, the Organizing Committee, Heerlijkheid Marinwaerdt, the estate owner and all persons working for the Organizing Committee shall not be liable for any material or physical damage, accident or illness which may occur to owners, renters, competitors, horses and grooms, under any circumstances, within or out of the competition ground before, during or after the competitions. The Organizer, the Organizing Committee, Heerlijkheid Marinwaerdt, the estate owner and all persons working for the Organizer shall not be liable for damage to driving vehicles, saddlers, stable attachment and other property (including theft and loss). The competitor indemnifies the Organizer, the Organizing Committee and all persons working for the Organizer from liability with regards to claims made by third parties, including the owners and renters of the horses, for compensation by the Organizer, the Organizing Committee and all persons working for the Organizer for all material or physical damage, of whatever nature, suffered by these third parties. The competitor has to fill out a liability form concerning the above mentioned before its first start at the secretarys office. All owners, renters and competitors are personally liable for damages to third persons caused by themselves and all persons working for them, and caused by their horses. They are strongly advised to take out third-party insurance providing full coverage for participation in equestrian events at home and abroad, and to keep the policy up to date. The OC will NOT be responsible for any damage caused by competitors, their horses, owners, NF officials, their employees/grooms or their representatives. Simply by enrolling a horse into the FEI World Four-in-Hand Championship 2008, the Person Responsible fully accepts the conditions of the schedule and of the programme itself, applicable for the competitors, grooms and the horses. In case of a dispute with regard to the interpretation of this official schedule, the English text takes precedence. e. LIABILITY The OC & Heerlijkheid Marinwaerdt decline any liability for property or pecuniary damage which may happen to visitors, competitors, grooms and horse owners through slight negligence of the OC, his delegates or his assistants. The OC & Heerlijkheid Marinwerdt also decline any liability for theft, fire or other incidents. By making the definite entries each competitor declares that he/she has taken notice of the schedule and the exclusion of the liability as set out in the schedule and that the competitor explicitly agrees therewith. f. HORSE PROTECTION From the time the competitors enter the showground they are obliged to adhere to the Regulations of the Dutch law for animal protection. In case of infringements the respective driver at discretion of the Ground Jury will be suspended from the event and may lose any right or privilege he/she is entitled to. f.
